Mountain Lions Finish Four-Game Road Trip at Chadron

By Jared Verner published January 26, 2013

CHADRON, Neb. - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will look to get back into the win column and make a push for the RMAC Shootout with nine games left in the conference season tonight when the Mountain Lions (2-14 / 2-10 RMAC) take on Chadron State (1-15 / 1-11 RMAC) tonight. Tip off from Armstrong Gymnasium is set for 8 p.m.

The Mountain Lions can make up ground in the conference standings during the next three games. Tonight's game will keep UCCS ahead of Chadron State in the standings, but next week's games feature the two teams tied for eighth (Western New Mexico and New Mexico Highlands). UCCS is three games out of eighth with nine games left in the regular season.

UCCS trailed by double digits last night against RMAC newcomer Black Hills State and rallied late to come within four points with two minutes left. Derrick White scored eight straight points to bring the Mountain Lions within reach against the Yellow Jackets and finished with a game-high 17 points.

Chadron State enters tonight's game on a seven-game losing streak, but three of those games have been against the top three teams in the conference. Zac Bargen has led the Eagles in scoring in the last three games with 33, 20 and 11 points against New Mexico Highlands, Western New Mexico and Colorado State-Pueblo, respectively.

The 75 points scored by Black Hills State last night was the fewest given up by the Mountain Lion defense in a conference road game this season. The 49 percent field goal percentage for UCCS was also the best performance outside of Colorado Springs since 55 percent at Western New Mexico.

Fans can follow tonight's game through live stats from Chadron State, live video through America One Networks and live audio through UCCS Radio.
