Mountain Lions Roll Past Menlo
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Lauren Wolfinger led all scorers with 19 points as the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (8-2/5-1 RMAC) started off Christmas break in winning fashion with a victory over the Menlo College Oaks (10-2/7-1 CalPac) 65-53 Tuesday night at the Gallogly Events Center.
Wolfinger, who also had six steals, started strong with 12 first-half points giving UCCS a 33-28 halftime advantage.
Menlo College led by as many as eight in the first-half before the Mountain Lions went on a 13-2 run, sparked by a Wolfinger 3-pointer, to take the lead for good at the 6:47 mark.
Abby Kirchoff (17), Gabby Ramirez (11) and Jeri Pikul (7) contributed their fair share as well, making a difference on the scoreboard for the Mountain Lions.
Hannah Knight hauled in the most UCCS rebounds grabbing 10 in only 15 minutes of action, while Sam Patterson grabbed five rebounds in only 13 minutes due to foul-trouble.
Laurel Donnenwirth was the high scorer for the Oaks with 18 points.
Up Next: UCCS takes on rival CSU-Pueblo 5 Jan. at 5:30 p.m. at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium.
