UCCS hosts final game of 2012
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo . - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team concludes their final game of the 2012 calendar year as they host No. 24 ranked in the NAIA, Menlo College, on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
UCCS is currently 7-2 overall / 5-1 RMAC, which is the best start to a season on over a decade. The Mountain Lions are coming off of two road conference wins against New Mexico Highlands and Western New Mexico.
In an overtime victory against Western New Mexico, Sam Patterson recorded the first double-double for any Mountain Lion this season, as she nabbed a game-high and season best 15 rebounds, to go along with her 16 points.
In that same game, Lauren Wolfinger moved into eighth all-time in school history for career 3-point shots made. She currently has 107, and needs just nine more to move into a tie for seventh.
UCCS is among the conference best in assists, steals, and shot percent. The team is currently first in assists with 18.2 per game, second in steals with just over ten per game, and second in field goal percentage, shooting 44.8 percent as a team.
Kellie Kruger leads the team in field goal percentages as she is averaging 59.5 percent through the first nine games, which ranks third best in the RMAC.
This will be the first ever meeting between UCCS and NAIA opponent Menlo College.
