Kirchoff named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore guard, Abby Kirchoff, was named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading UCCS to two home wins to begin the 2012-2013 conference season.
The Mountain Lions were led both defensively and offensively by Kirchoff this past weekend in consecutive victories against the defending RMAC champions Fort Lewis and in a blow against Adams State.
In a 70-65 win against the Skyhawks, Kirchoff had game-highs of seven total rebounds, six defensive rebounds and six steals. She also had a game-high of 25 points, shooting seven-of-nine from the field and a perfect five-of-five from downtown. In the two wins this weekend, Kirchoff averaged 4.5 defensive rebounds and 3.5 steals.
Kirchoff is currently second in the RMAC for steals per game with 3.0, while also leading the Mountain lions in points per game with 13.2 and in defensive rebounds with 19.
UP NEXT: Abby Kirchoff and the UCCS Mountain Lions will be back in action this weekend for two more conference home game as they host Metro State (2-4, 0-1 RMAC) on Friday night and Regis (2-3, 1-0 RMAC) on Saturday night. Both games have a tip-off time of 5:30 p.m.
