Culver Signs Wilford to National Letter of Intent
University of Colorado Colorado Springs Head Men's Basketball Coach Jeff Culver is excited to announce the signing of Tre-Shawn Wilford, a 6-2 guard from Eaglecrest High School in Centennial, Colo., to a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. Wilford is the first member of the UCCS 2012-13 recruiting class for men's basketball.
"We are excited to have Tre-Shawn join our Mountain Lion family," Culver said. "Not only is Tre one of the best athletes coming out of high school this year in Colorado, but he is also a young man of high character and excellent academic standing. He will fit in very well with the new direction of UCCS basketball."
Wilford earned All-Centennial League First Team honors and was a Denver Post Honorable Mention All-State for Class 5A last season as a junior. He averaged 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and 2.3 steals per game and helped lead the Raptors to the second round of the 5A state playoffs.
Wilford was also a top receiver for the Eaglecrest football team this season and led the Raptors with 23.5 yards per reception and four receiving touchdowns. He was a member of this season's state quarterfinal team.
UCCS begins the 2012-13 conference season this Friday in a 7:30 p.m. game against Fort Lewis at home. The game will be carried live throughout Colorado Springs on Comcast Channel 20.
