Mountain Lions Take on San Francisco State to Close Out Non-Conference Season

CHICO, Calif. - The top scoring defensive team for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in more than 20 years will close out the non-conference schedule tonight when the Mountain Lions (0-3) take on San Francisco State (1-2) tonight in the Carl's Jr. Mac Martin Invitational. Tip-off from Acker Gym is set for 6:30 p.m. MST.

The Gators are coming off a 60-55 victory last night against No. 7 Seattle Pacific, and played within 10 points of Minnesota State, who is receiving votes in the latest national poll. Tonight will be the first between between UCCS and San Francisco State in program history.

The Mountain Lions are holding teams to an average of 70 points per game, which is the best scoring defense through three games since the 1992-93 season. UCCS is ranked seventh in the RMAC among teams that have played multiple games this season. The Mountain Lions also have the fourth-best rebounding defense in the league.

Darius Pardner led UCCS in scoring for the first time this season last night against No. 16 Chico State and made three steals as the Mountain Lions maintained an advantage in steals for the second straight game. He's leading the team in assists and steals and is second in scoring in the early season.
