UCCS takes care of business in win over Regis
COLORADO SPRINGS -- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs lead by as many as 26 in a 82-60 business like win over the Regis Rangers Friday night at the Gallogly Events Center.
The win got UCCS (7-9, 6-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) back on track as the Mountain Lions high-octane offense -- fifth best in theRMAC at 71.7 per game -- scored more than 80 points for the fourth time in the last seven games.
Pushing the peddle to the scoring-engine was Darius Pardner who had a team-high 23 points to go along with seven rebounds. Matt Heydman(13), Jeff Isaac (12) and Jake Darby (11) were also in double-figures while versatile-guard Alex Koehler lead in rebounds with eight.
Pardner also set the tone from behind the arc going 3-5 on the 3-pointers. The Mountain Lions as a whole went 7-17 from downtown as they continue to add to their conference leading total which now stands at 139 made 3-pointers on the season.
UCCS enjoyed its biggest rebound margin on the season against Regis; out-rebounding the Rangers 50-33 despite not one player being in double-figures on the glass. Six different Mountain Lions had at least five rebounds even including the generously listed 5-foot-8 George Pollard(5).
Demitrius Owens led Regis (4-10, 1-9 RMAC) with 12 points, while Chris Johnson chipped in 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
