Two more added to deep, talented women's basketball recruiting class
The University of Colorado Colorado Springs' women's basketball recruiting class grew again Wednesday as the Mountain Lions announced the signing of guard Krystal Pittman of Eastern Wyoming College by way of D'Evelyn High School and 6-foot-2 Australian Hannah Knight.
Pittman, a 5-foot-7 guard, comes to UCCS from Eastern Wyoming, the same junior college that produced the Brown twins, Jessica and Danielle. As a sophomore for the Lancers, Pittman averaged 20.8 points, seven rebounds and 3.4 assists per game and was an honorable mention all-league selection.
Prior to eastern Wyoming, Pittman was a three-time all-conference selection at D'Evelyn High School and was also honorable mention all-state twice. She was also a first-team all-state selection and earned three all-league honors in soccer.
"Krystal is a dynamic guard who is very quick and active," said UCCS coach Corey Laster. "She will provide much-needed experience on the floor. She has the ability to scorer off the dribble and from outside. I am excited to add someone who has the potential to contribute right way."
Knight represented the state of Western Australia in the country's national championships from 2004-11 and was vice captain of two of those teams. She was the Western Australia Basketball League's Most Valuable Player in 2008 and 2009 while playing for the Mandurah Magic Basketball Club and was the league's top scorer in 2009. She was Mandurah's Rising Star Award winner in 2009 and was named to the Western Australia Basketball League's all-star team for four consecutive years (2005-09).
"Hannah is full of personality," said Laster. "I love her attitude and love for the game. She is a post player that brings good size and experience on the floor. She is a very good defensive-minded post and brings a strong work ethic."
