University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's basketball coach Corey Laster completed a very successful early recruiting period by signing Rocky Ford High School guard Jessika Kienitz to a National Letter of Intent, UCCS announced Wednesday.
At 5-foot-10, Kienitz plays point guard for her high school team and averaged 3.4 assists and 14 points per game as a junior. Described by her Colorado Heat club coach, Darrow Fontera, as a "very good defender on the ball with long arms and good feet," Kienitz also averaged 2.9 steals and 4.1 rebounds in 2009-10.
A multi-sport athlete, Kienitz also starred for the Meloneers in cross country, track and softball.
