Free admission for Monday's games!
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs announced Monday that there will be no admission charged for its Jan. 3 basketball games against Colorado State-Pueblo as part of Ent Community Night.
The women's game that Monday night will begin at 6 p.m. The men's game will follow at approximately 8 p.m.
The games are being sponsored by Ent Federal Credit Union, which also sponsors the trophy given to the Steel & Silver Series winner. Ent will be recognized at halftime
The Steel & Silver Series recognizes the rivalry that has developed between UCCS and CSU-Pueblo. UCCS has won the series and retained possession of the Ent Federal Credit Union Trophy in each of the five years the series has been in existence. UCCS goes into Monday's games with a 16-4 lead in the 2010-11 series. Each of Monday's games will be worth two points.
The Steel & Silver Series is on a "winner-take-all" points system. In each of the 10 intercollegiate athletics programs that both schools sponsor - men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's cross country, softball, volleyball, and women's indoor and outdoor track and field - the school that earns the most wins in head-to-head competition will be awarded four points. If the head-to-head competitions are split evenly, each school will be awarded two points. The school with the best cumulative grade point average among student-athletes in the school's common sports will also be awarded five points. The school with the most points at the end of the academic year will be awarded the Ent Federal Credit Union Trophy, with the presentation taking place in the home city of the winning school.
