Frick joins Mountain Lions for 2010-11
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs men's basketball coach Russ Caton announced Thursday the signing of forward Garrett Frick to a national letter of intent.
Frick attended the Air Force Academy Prep School in 2009-10 but decided not to pursue a military career. UCCS was one of several teams that wanted the 6-foot-7, 230-pound wing/post from Santa Monica, Calif.
"Garret had a lot of options to chose from and he wants to be here at UCCS," said Caton. "That's very important to us! I'm excited about what Garret is going to be bringing to the program."
According to a scouting report by Dave Keefer of Hoop Review, what Frick brings is an "aggressive wing, strong around the basket and can finish, solid outside shooter, active rebounder, physical."
Frick was also listed among the top 25 basketball high school seniors for 2009 by Full Court Press.
"Garrett is a great fit for UCCS," said Caton. "He is a great guy and a great ball player. I'm excited about his toughness and his versatility. He is going to be a tough matchup in the RMAC.
