Holm named to all-tournament team

Vera Jo Bustos of Adams State was named the MVP of the 2009 Hyatt Place Thanksgiving Classic hosted by the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Friday and Saturday.

Adams State was the tournament champion, posting a 2-0 record for the tournament. Montana State-Billings and Missouri Western State were each 1-1, while host UCCS was 0-2.

Bustos displayed a complete game during the tournament, averaging 16 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists in the Grizzlies' two games. Against Montana State-Billings in what proved to be the tournament championship game, Bustos had 13 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

Two of Bustos' Adams State teammates, Kendra Coveal and Kelsie Kruger, were named to the all-tournament team. Coveal averaged 15 points and 8.5 rebounds, including five per game on the offensive glass. Kruger put up 12.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and two blocks per game.

Also named to the all-tournament team were Kayla Ryan of Montana State-Billings, Jessica Koch of Missouri Western State and Lauren Holm of UCCS.

Ryan averaged 20 points while making 15 of her 25 field goal attempts and grabbed 10.5 rebounds per game for the Yellowjackets. Koch averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, three assists and three steals per game. Holm put up 13 points, 4.5 rebounds and two assists per game.
