Loss to Central Washington Drops Mountain Lions to 0-4
NAMPA, Idaho - Ben Feilmeier led five Mountain Lions in double figures but the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs nonetheless lost for the fourth time in as many games, 113-83 to the Central Washington Wildcats at the Johnson Sports Center.
UCCS finished its participation at the 2009 Northwest Nazarene Classic with an 0-2 record.
Brent Jones (15), Scott Sublousky (13), Jordan McClung (13) and Alex Snyder (12) all reached double digits for the Mountain Lions. McClung had a team-high eight rebounds and Feilmeier had five assists.
Jon Clift led Central Washington (2-1) with 20 points, followed by Chris Sprinker's 18 and 14 each by Riley Sivcak and Humberto Perez.
UCCS coach Russ Caton had his team go uptempo, which resulted in a season-high scoring output. The 113 points allowed, however, were the most surrendered by a UCCS team since new Mexico Highlands scored 113 on Dec. 20, 2008.
UCCS fell into an early 19-4 hole that grew to 19 at 32-13. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Feilmeier and Rob Howe sparked a 19-7 run that cut the gap to 43-37, allowing the Mountain Lions to go into the intermission within striking distance at 49-41.
The Wildcats started the second half much like they had the first, though, going on a 19-3 rampage to blow the game open for good.
