UCCS falls to Northwest Nazarene
NAMPA, Idaho â€" For the third time in as many games, the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs struggled offensively, this time in an 81-60 loss to the Northwest Nazarene Crusaders Friday evening at the Johnson Sports Center.
The Mountain Lions shot just 31.8 percent from the field and 61.1 percent from the foul line. By contrast, Northwest Nazarene shot 47.3 and 84.6 percent respectively.
Ben Feilmeier led UCCS (0-3) with 14 points. Alex Snyder and Scott Sublousky each added 10 points, while Jordan McClung had nine points and seven rebounds, one behind team-leader Tommy Klausnerâ€TMs eight.
Anthony Golden led Northwest Nazarene (2-0) with 19 points. Drew Eisinger had seven assists.
The Crusaders outscored UCCS 17-2 over the first 5:24 behind five points by Golden and four each by Lateef Williams and Kendall Gielow. The lead would never dip below double digits the rest of the way. Williams and Gielow each finished with 12 points.
UCCS used a 15-6 run to cut the deficit to 55-44 with 12:34 remaining, but Northwest Nazarene responded with a 5-0 run.
