COLORADO SPRINGS â€" University of Colorado at Colorado Springs menâ€TMs basketball coach Russ Caton completed his 2009 recruiting class Wednesday with the announcement that Falcon High Schoolâ€TMs Adam Link had signed his letter of intent.

Link, an athletic 6-foot-5 forward, was named all-big schools first-team by the Gazette as well as first-team all-Class 4A Metro League.

“To say I'm excited to have Adam here at UCCS is a huge understatement,” said Caton. “It isn't often you get to have someone in your program who has all the components to be a great basketball player.”

Link led the Falcons with 15.5 points per game while shooting 48.4 percent from the field this past season. He also averaged 6.4 rebounds, 3.2 blocked shots, 3.2 steals and 2.5 assists per game.

“He is a very versatile player and that will make him valuable to us,” said Caton. “I'm looking for Adam to make an impact on this team right away.”

Link actually signed his letter of intent in a ceremony in the Falcon High School library on May 15, but NCAA rules require that no announcement be made until the document is actually received by the school.

Caton is enthusiastic about not only Linkâ€TMs impressive athleticism, but also his character and work ethic. Link chose UCCS despite heavy interest from several other schools.

“I believe Adam is the new standard for future recruiting of UCCS Athletes,” said Caton. “As a freshman he will get to be a part of starting a great tradition in our new gym.”
