Colorado Christian tops Mountain Lions
LAKEWOOD, Colo. â€" Nancy Hoist led the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs with 18 points and eight rebounds but the Mountain Lions were beaten 76-65 by the Colorado Christian Cougars Friday evening at Cougar Fieldhouse.
Payden Ackerman went 5-for-8 from 3-point range to account for her 15 points, while Mallory Lowe added 12 points for UCCS (8-16, 6-10 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference).
Jodie Krall led Colorado Christian (12-13, 8-9 RMAC) with 24 points and five assists. Talmai Aguirre added 16 and Ainsley Barratt had 15. Barratt and Abby Rosenthal each had 12 rebounds as the Cougars had a 43-33 advantage on the boards.
The Mountain Lions led by as many as seven in the first half but ended the period in a 26-26 tie.
The Cougars opened the second half with a 13-3 run behind six points by Krall. UCCS whittled the deficit to six at 43-37 after a 3-pointer by Hoist, but Colorado Christian answered by scoring the next seven points. UCCS never got closer than nine the rest of the way.
