Lowe named to all-tournament team

The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs announced the MVP and all-tournament team for the 2008 Hyatt Place Mountain Lion Classic, which concluded Saturday evening.

The tournament MVP was Natalie Gigler of Winona State. The sophomore from Brooklyn Park, Minn., led the Warriors to a 2-0 tournament record by averaging 17.5 points per game with an unbelievable 83.3 (15-for-18) shooting percentage.

Giglerâ€TMs teammate, Jenny Steffen averaged 17 points and five rebounds per game in the tournament. The senior from De Pere, Wis., also had six assists and four steals.

Ashley Hanson was the selectee from the Newman Jets, who went 1-1 in the tournament. The sophomore from Grandview, Mo., averaged nine points and eight rebounds per game as Newman coach Tracy Anderson used her bench liberally, with 13 players averaging 9.5 or more minutes per game.

Kendra Coveal led Adams State with 12 points and six rebounds per game as the Grizzlies went 1-1 in the tournament. The sophomore from Albuquerque also had four assists.

Mallory Lowe led UCCS with a 14-point-per-game average on 13-for-22 shooting. The sophomore from Bushnell, Ill., also grabbed 18 rebounds, blocked three shots and had six steals.
