UCCS picked fifth in preseason coaches' poll
The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs women's basketball team was chosen to finish fifth in the East Division in the annual Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Nebraska-Kearney, which advanced all the way to the North Central Region championship game a year ago, was picked to finish first, followed by Metro State, Regis and Colorado School of Mines.
Colorado State-Pueblo was picked to finish first in the West Division, followed by Fort Lewis, Mesa State and Western State.
A surprising development was the omission of senior center Tonya Tripp from the preseason all-East Division team. Tripp was an all-East selection for 2006-07 after dominating over the final 13 games, averaging 8.9 rebounds and 15.6 points on 54.3 percent shooting.
UCCS will host a ‘Moonlight Madness' celebration following the volleyball team's match against Colorado Christian on Oct. 19.
