Tripp named player of the week

University of Colorado at Colorado Springs center Tonya Tripp was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference East Division player of the week, the conference announced Monday.

Tripp averaged a double-double in three games last week with 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. She guided the Mountain Lions to a 2-1 record on the week, defeating Colorado College (72-67) and Colorado Christian (87-75) before losing to #18 Metro State (60-74).

In a non-conference game against CC, Tripp scored 20 points on 6-of-9 field goal shooting (66.8 percent) and 8-of-10 free throws. She added 12 rebounds, two blocks and a steal. On Friday against the Cougars, Tripp made 7-of-12 field goals for 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Against 18th-ranked Metro State, Tripp scored a season-high 25 points and matched Tuesdayâ€TMs effort with 12 rebounds.

For the week, she made 22-of-37 field goals for 59.5 percent and 16-of-20 from the foul line (80 percent).
