Hannaway gets third player of the week award
University of Colorado at Colorado Springs forward Patrick Hannaway was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference East Division Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
With the holidays affecting playing schedules, the award covered the two-week period from Dec. 18-31.
Hannaway scored nine points in overtime to help the Mountain Lions top CSU-Pueblo in a non-conference home win, 107-100. With UCCS leading by three points and 33 seconds remaining, he grabbed a key offensive rebound off a missed free throw that helped increase the lead to five and make it a two-possession game.
In the game, Hannaway scored 35 points add grabbed eight rebounds. He made 12-of-14 field goals (85.7 percent) and 10-of-16 free throws (62.5 percent).
It's the third time this season that Hannaway has been named player of the week, the most such awards ever in a single season by a UCCS men's basketball player.
The senior from Colorado Springs leads the RMAC in both shooting (73.1 percent from the field) and scoring (26.3 points per game).
