Bain's big night shatters records
Jack Bain had a record night in Tuesday's 85-82 loss to Johnson & Wales. Bain scored 46 points, easily surpassing Mark Kinnebrew's previous school record of 38 set on Dec. 29, 1999. But Bain didn't stop there. He also grabbed 20 rebounds, topping Mike Lallier's school record of 19 that had stood for over 10 years.
"It was a fantastic performance," said coach Marty Fletcher. "But it doesn't surprise me because he's played at that level the entire season."
Breaking two records on a single night would be enough for most, but not for Bain. He now has 263 rebounds on the season, passing the school record of 256 set by Mike Jackson way back in 1989. Bain also blocked three shots, giving him 28 for the season and topping Kevin Fletcher's school record of 25.
When Bain grabs his fifth rebound Friday night, he will also own the school's career rebounding record. The previous best was 731, held by Jackson. With four games remaining, Bain is also only 73 points away from breaking Wayne Rhymes' single-season mark in that category.
By the way, Bain is already CU-Colorado Springs' all-time leader in steals.
"I'm very proud that Jack, along with the rest of his teammates, have continued to play extremely hard and compete every time out in spite of our won-loss record," said Fletcher.
