Bain's performance goes for not in loss to Southern.
Jack Bain had a game-high 21 points and a game-high 17 rebounds but the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs lost 63-55 to the Colorado State-Pueblo Thunderwolves Saturday night in Pueblo.
Cold shooting was the key factor for CU-Colorado Springs as it was outshot by the Thunderwolves 52.1 percent to 33.3 percent. The Mountain Lions fell down by nine, 28-19 with five minutes to go in the first half, before closing the gap to 34-30 at the break.
An awful start to the second half took the Mountain Lions out of the game. CU-Colorado Springs missed its first five shots and had four turnovers over the fist seven minutes. Colorado State-Pueblo spent that time going on an 18-0 run to go up 52-30.
CU-Colorado Springs went on a 17-4 run capped off by a Josef Cruz 3-pointer to sneak back into the game 56-47. Another run by the Thunderwolves put the game away.
Alfred Sanchez had 18 and Brian Vecchio added 17 points to lead the Tunderwolves. Jimmie Pack added 10 for CU-Colorado Springs, Casey Gutting had nine.
Turnovers were again a problem for CU-Colorado Springs. The Mountain Lions had 17 giveaways, resulting in 20 Thunderwolves points.
This was the Mountain Lions' sixth straight loss and their ninth in their past ten games.
