Mountain Lion Women Prevail, Men Fall to WNMU
SILVER CITY, NM - The UCCS women's basketball team made good on the first game of their 11-hour bus ride Friday as they kept Western New Mexico winless in RMAC action at Drag's Court in Silver City, New Mexico. The Mountain Lions defeated Western 64-46 to stay in the playoff hunt as Western lost its 17th game of the season. UCCS is 11-9 overall and 6-8 in league play.
The Mountain Lions were led by Danielle Brown, who scored 18. Abby Kirchoff had 11 as all but one of UCCS' players hit the scorebook.
In the second game of the night, the UCCS Men battled but ultimately could not overcome a final run by the Mustangs. The score was 66-72, dropping the Mountain Lions to 7-13 overall, 6-8 RMAC.
Both team will take on New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas, NM, tonight.
