COLORADO SPRINGS - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs got down early and stayed down as they fell 65-58 to the University of Nebraska-Kearney Lopers Friday evening at the Gallogly Events Center.

A back-and-forth first-half saw Nebraska-Kearney make a 10-4 run towards the end of the half to make it 25-18. UCCSstormed back in the final minutes however to tie it at 27 all on a Danielle Brown layup.

Sloppy play by the Mountain Lions fueled the Loper offense in the first-half, as 11 turnovers became 13 points for Nebraska-Kearney.

UCCS closed the gap to one in the second-half at 5:26 when Jessica Brown used a vicious crossover to get by theLoper defense and make it 55-56.

Nichole Arp provided the icing on the cake when a bank-shot three-point play made it 65-58 tying the largest lead of the night with under 30 seconds to play.

Ultimately turnovers (UCCS had 16) and poor 3-point shooting (1-13) were too much for the Mountain Lions (10-8, 5-7 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) to overcome in this contest as they dropped there second game in a row.

Sammy Gentile was the Mountain Lion's leading scorer (16) and rebounder (7) on the night, while Jessica Brown was the only other Mountain Lion in double-figures with 11 points.

Vanessa Jones lead the way for Nebraska-Kearny (5-12, 5-7 RMAC) with 16 points and seven rebounds of her own.

The Mountain Lions will look to split this weekend's pair of games as they take on Chadron State tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m.
